To effectively prevent an increase in cancer incidence and mortality and to be able to give an adequate assessment of the epidemiological situation, the healthcare authorities need reliable data on cancer burden in a certain territory. Therefore, population-based cancer registries are a crucial element for cancer control planning and the assessment of the impact of cancer control activities in any country of the world. This article overviews epidemiological aspects in cancer registration systems in Russia and around the world. The methods of cancer registration in children applied in developed countries can be used to improve childhood cancer registration in Russia.</p>
(International Agency for Research on Cancer), в 2025 г. Методологии, используемые в развитых странах при регистрации злокачественных новообразований у детей, могут быть применимы в совершенствовании отечественной детской онкологической службы.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>children</kwd><kwd>malignant neoplasms</kwd><kwd>population-based cancer registries</kwd><kwd>cancer incidence</kwd><kwd>cancer mortality</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>дети</kwd><kwd>злокачественные новообразования</kwd><kwd>популяционные канцер-регистры</kwd><kwd>онкологическая заболеваемость</kwd><kwd>онкологическая смертность</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">1.
